Happy Birthday JESUS

So for this Christmas, I wanted to make something that reflected what I thought about this special holiday. I always wonder why so many people celebrate Christmas, without recognizing that it's CHRIST-mas. Even though historically, December 25th isn't the actual day of Jesus's birth, it's a time to recognize that he was born and to celebrate his coming into the world, and eventual atonement for it.

I have been really thinking about how I need to give him more of the glory in my art and in my life, and that's how I want to start off this new year. I want to give Jesus all the glory and the honor and praise for giving me everything that i have; for the shirt on my back, the food in my belly, the pencil and paper (wacom tablet and computer) that i have, and the people that I love, and don't "love". Thank you Lord for being born, and allowing me to be reborn. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

So if anyone is aware i used to draw really detailed illustrations before coming to CalArts. I really always wanted to continue with the detail work, but i was still in the process of learning how to simplify. I feel that this is me really starting to incorporate my detail into something more simple.

I hope this is the beginning to something good.
